Tonight’s shillang night result was a big one for West Coast’s midfield, as the Eagles swept the Hawks in a thrilling clash at the MCG.
The Eagles took the lead in the final term, before romping home in the third term to hand the Hawks their sixth win of the season.
The Hawks had the ball on the wing at one stage, and kicked a couple of goals from close range.
They also kicked a few goals from long distance.
The second half saw a lot of great kicking from West Coast, but the Eagles were able to get a couple from outside the box.
And then in the fourth term, the Eagles kicked a golden goal from their own 20, and their first win of 2017.
But the Hawks could not match the Eagles’ pace in the first term, and the visitors continued to work their way into the game.
West Coast finished the game with 22 goals, while the Eagles scored a little under 22.
The result will see West Coast move back into the top six on the ladder, while Geelong move down one spot to seventh.
The win sees the Eagles reach the finals for the first time in three years, while they move up a spot to third in the ladder.
West’s win over the Hawks has seen the Eagles move back up to third place on the AFL ladder.
